YOUTH WORK Nurturing Socially Productive Citizens

Dr. Wooday P Krishna’s concern for youth and their future is such that he spends a lot of his time in planning and executing programmes that will benefit them. His faith in the power of the youth of the country has made him think and constantly mould activities to create a conducive environment for the continuous progress of youth. He is constantly engaged in motivating and uniting youth for worthy causes.

Dr. Krishna has contributed to the growth of the Youth Hostel Movement which helps all, but especially young people of limited means to a greater knowledge and love of the country side. He has been promoting activities such as Adventure Clubs in schools and colleges and National Himalayan Trekking programmes as President of Youth Hostels Association of India, Bengaluru South Unit.

Besides, he is the Vice-President of Navajeevan Physical Culture Institute which runs a free gymnasium for youth, a free hostel for college students and a free clinic. He has served as Government of Karnataka nominee on the Board of Trustees of Srinivasa Mandiram & Charities, established in 1883, which runs a free hostel for students drawn from rural economically weaker sections of the society and across caste and other barriers. He was appointed by Govt. of Karnataka as a member of High Powered Committee in 2011 to oversee implementation of programmes for youth relating to the 150th birth anniversary celebrations of Swami Vivekananda at state, district and taluk levels. He has been organising International Youth Exchange Programs across countries like Sri Lanka, Germany and United Kingdom, as President of Indian Foundation for Global Peace Education since 2012.

In recognition of his contributions to voluntary youth work and community services, the Govt. of Karnataka has awarded him with the State Youth Award in 1992.
